Michelle Yeoh Graces Cover of Vogue China

The star of Vogue China’s October issue is none other than Chinese-Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh.

Yeoh first rose to fame after starring in Hong Kong action films like Yes, Madam (1985).

The actress, whose career spans almost 40 years, has been in all kinds of films, from the wuxia film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon to period drama Memoirs of a Geisha and the sci-fi TV show Star Trek: Discovery.

However, it was in this year’s breakout film Everything Everywhere All at Once that the actress garnered universal acclaim.

The absurdist drama about Evelyn Wong, a Chinese-American laundromat owner, who stumbles upon the multiverse, has made over $100 million at the global box office.

In her interview with Vogue China, Yeoh said that Everything Everywhere was “the movie [she] had been waiting for.”

To many, Yeoh represents the rise of Asian culture in mainstream media and that Hollywood is slowly beginning to recognize BIPOC perspectives.
