‘Chinatown Pretty’ Celebrates Older Asian Americans and their Fashionable Flair

In 2014, photographer Andria Lo and writer Valerie Luu collaborated on a project named ‘Chinatown Pretty.’

The project highlighted the vibrant street fashion of older Asian Americans living in six different Chinatowns throughout North America.

Through street photography and interviews, Lo and Luu captured the unique fashion of older Chinatown residents.

Their portraits and stories serve as a powerful and inspiring reminder of the older generation’s resilience, relevancy, and happiness.

Lo told NBC News in a previous interview, “There’s a wide diaspora of people and there’re a lot of unique stories, and we’ve been happy to share that with more people.”
