China’s ‘It Girls’ Are Hitting the Streets for Their Wedding Photos

City streets are becoming the ubiquitous wedding photo backdrop for China’s ‘it girls.

On a Xiaohongshu tag titled ‘street wedding photography,’ there are over 96,000 posts showing glamorous couples in wedding attire strolling down sidewalks.

Many of the posts under this trend are actually ‘pre-wedding photos’ (婚纱照, hunsha zhao), a tradition undertaken instead of an engagement photoshoot.

This younger generation’s wedding photos embrace China’s urban spaces in lieu of traditional photography studios.

Taken everywhere from Beijing to Changsha, Shanghai to Suzhou, these photos scream modern love.
