Reminiscent of a French dessert called the croquembouche, the ‘strawberry tower’ or caomei ta (草莓塔) is currently on every Chinese youth's to-eat list.
Fruits, usually strawberries, are bound together with cream, and stacked as high as possible. At some dessert shops, the sweet treat measures up to 50cm!
Unsurprisingly, the dessert's ambitious height is sometimes a recipe for disaster: Several netizens have captured epic fail videos of their treats toppling over.
However, many will take that risk if it means getting in on the hottest food trend at present.
