Ancient Art Form Ronghua is Now A Modern Accessory
Ronghua, or “velvet flower,” is an ancient art form dating back to China’s Tang dynasty.
Ronghua is traditionally made from natural silk and copper wire and is used for folk festivals and ceremonial decorations.
Today, Ronghua is a popular, durable accessory worn with traditional hanfu attire. The name “velvet flower” sounds similar to the Chinese word for “prosperity,” giving it a lucky connotation.
Popular motifs include phoenixes, treasure bowls, double happiness characters, and various flowers such as jasmine, white orchid, and hibiscus. They are often inspired by traditional Chinese folk art.
