Tea Chain Nayuki Collaborates With Chinese Animation Calabash Brothers

On January 13, Chinese milk tea brand Nayuki launched a slew of themed merch in collaboration with China’s first cutout animation, Calabash Brothers.

As gourds represent happiness and fortune in Chinese culture, this is a perfect campaign for the upcoming Chinese New Year holiday starting from January 22.

The campaign includes eight themed cups and paper bags, a gourd-shaped bag, and seven kinds of stickers.

Calabash Brothers is an animated series produced by Shanghai Animation Film Studio and first aired on TV in 1986.

Nayuki X Calabash Brothers pop-ups have also appeared across 10 cities in China: Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Xi’an, Wuhan, Changsha, Shenyang, and Harbin.

This is the 10th event of Nayuki’s Cupseum, where the tea chain regularly works with global artists to exhibit artwork on its packages.  For example, they’ve worked with Japanese artist Pepe Shimada, American illustrator Christopher Ryan David, and Italian visual artist Maurizio Cattelan.
