U.S. Embassy in China Swoops In With Eagle Stickers on WeChat

On January 30, the U.S. Embassy in China released a playful set of 16 bald eagle-themed stickers on China’s main messaging app WeChat.

Nicknamed ‘Little American Eagle,’ the emotive figure is inspired by America’s national bird, the bald eagle or Haliaeetus leucocephalus.

WeChat stickers are essentially small gif or png files that users employ like emojis.

The said stickers convey a broad range of emotions One simply says ‘chillax’ (淡定).

Another timely one features a bundled-up bird and reads, ‘happy winter’ (冬季快乐).

The zen-like eagle above serves to remind everyone to ‘stay calm’ (保持冷静).

As one Twitter user wrote, “U.S. taxpayers funded this, which is incredible to think about.”
