An 18-meter-tall and 10-meter-wide snowman recently appeared on the bank of the Songhua River in Harbin, the capital of Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province.
The snowman is dressed in a fluffy hat and striped scarf and is made of over 2,000 cubic meters of snow and ice. It has become a new landmark of Harbin, commonly known as ‘Ice City.’
It is not the first super-sized snowman built in the city. At the beginning of this year, a different snow character stood in the same spot.
Another one with a grinning face was erected at the city’s Music Park to celebrate the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
In addition to snowmen, many more elaborateice and snow sculptures will pop up soon, as the 39th Harbin Ice and Snow Festival will open on Jan 5, 2023.
As the world’s biggest ice and snow festival, the annual event attracts numerous artistsand touristsfrom around the globe.
