This Beijing Winter Olympics Site Was Formerly a Steel Mill

A prime example of urban regeneration, this former steel mill could have been abandoned or torn down, but was given a new lease on life.

The industrial plant was shut down almost 90 years ago as part of Beijing’s ambitious plan to combat air pollution.
